Rest in Peace — July 29, 2026
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sherrin Ashcraft, who passed away peacefully at The Kenwood on July 29, 2026, after courageously battling Parkinson’s disease for more than two years. Sherrin made her perpetual profession as a Lay Dominican on August 7, 2017, taking the religious name Mary Joseph Dominic of the Most Holy Rosary at Fatima. Just two days before she died, her pastor came to her bedside to administer Last Rites and the Apostolic Pardon. She was still able to make the Sign of the Cross and mouth along with the old Latin prayers.
Visitation: Thursday, August 6 — 8:30–9:30 AM, Parish Center
Funeral Mass: Thursday, August 6 — 9:30 AM, St. Gertrude Catholic Church
Burial: Saturday, August 8 — Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, KY
Per the Lay Dominican Rule, members are asked to pray five decades of the Rosary and the Office of the Dead for Sherrin, and to attend her funeral Mass if possible, offering a Mass with her intention if they cannot.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

The fraternity’s next profession ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 12. The date is not yet confirmed and is still being finalized with Fr. John and Deacon Mike Muse. Please keep those preparing for profession in your prayers:

On the feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta, the St. Paul Street Evangelization teams of Watertown/Syracuse, NY began a modified mobile mission serving the unhoused and those suffering from poverty — bringing the Gospel, prayer, and aid to those in need in the streets. The St. Paul Street Evangelization team of Syracuse went into the streets on Labor Day weekend to serve the homeless population with backpack aid and the Gospel, encountering many who had faith but were suffering greatly. My sister’s granddaughter, age 14, has severe mental illness; the situation is critical. She has qualified for a special program that may be her last option before ending up on the street, but as a 14-year-old in Virginia she can refuse help.
